Observations

I am not a good sailor, alas. As a consequence, we have not yet found the correct route to Santa Lemusa. Early this morning I therefore urged Oskar to call me captain, if only for the heck of it, and to salute me when I step on the bridge. He had looked at me and nodded, or so it seemed to me. But who knows what goes on inside an ant’s heart?

That seemed to be the dream from which I had woken up early this morning with a feeling of strength, as if I had thrown off the ballast. I was in the centre of Paris and had fallen into a deep hole – and in order to get out of it I had to climb a strange sort of stairway, the steps of which were made of red sand and crumbled at the slightest movement. It was impossible therefore to get back to the city. I decided to sing a song and simply climb up. It worked. The steps proceeded to collapse, but I managed to climb, in quasi nothingness, and make my way up to the city.

If I could only remember what the song was!
